Course Aims
The overall aim of this 2-session workshop-based course is to raise awareness of the novelties that a CLIL approach to language and content integrated learning may bring about in the TEFL-TESOL classroom. Through practical enquiry participants will explore newer ways for task, materials and lesson design in the ELT/ CLIL classroom.
Course Contents
The course comprises of two independent 1-day sessions (CLIL 1 and CLIL 2). Whilst session two builds on the principles covered in session 1, candidates are free to enrol on whichever session/s they are interested in.
> CLIL 1
- Introduction to CLIL: What is CLIL? Driving forces behind CLIL.
- Planning tasks and lessons for CLIL
- Example CLIL Lesson: Developing reading skills through History (Secondary)
- Planning workshop: Course participants plan own lesson
- Example CLIL Lesson: Listening for specific information through Math (Primary)
- Planning workshop: Course participants plan own lesson
> CLIL 2
- Evaluating and creating materials for CLIL
- Assessment / Evaluation principles in CLIL
- Example CLIL Lesson: Developing writing skills through Geography (Secondary)
- Planning workshop: Course participants plan own lesson
- Example CLIL Project Work: A Science Project with Primary Students
- Planning workshop: Course participants plan own project
Course Certification
A certificate will be issued to every course participant who attends all of the workshops comprising one or more of the sessions.
Those candidates who complete CLIL 1 will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Candidates who attend CLIL 1 + CLIL 2 will be awarded the Foundation Certificate in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
